It is the modern ring of Timișoara, built out in the 1970s and 1980s as the city pushed beyond its historic core, and it still does the same job: it holds the four-star business hotels, the chain properties, the apartment blocks and the car parks. If you are arriving by car and leaving by car, or if you are here for a conference at Iulius Town or one of the office buildings on Calea Circumvalațiunii, this is the practical place to sleep. You will not be tripping over baroque squares or cobbled lanes when you step out of the lobby. You will be stepping onto a wide boulevard with tram tracks, and that suits a certain kind of traveller very well.

The quarter is well connected by tram. Lines 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 all run along Calea Circumvalațiunii or its edges, and they take you to Piața Victoriei in about ten to fifteen minutes. From there you can walk into the old town or change to another line for Fabric, Iosefin or the train station. Trams run from around 5am to 11pm, and a single ticket costs about EUR 0.60, September 2026, if you buy it from the machine or by SMS. A day pass is about EUR 2.50, September 2026. You do not need a car to get around, but you will need to accept that the tram is not a scenic ride. It is a functional one.
