Location

Retreat House Herneacova sits 26 km out from Timișoara, in Timiș. This is out on the county plain. A car is close to essential, and the centre of Timișoara is a drive rather than a ride.

The quarter around it is covered on the Recaș page, which sets out what it costs, how you get in and out, and what is against it.

The facilities, in detail

The supplier record lists 27 facilities. Parking appears in the listing, which matters inside the ring where metered space is short. Air conditioning is listed — worth confirming for July and August, when the city sits around 30°C. There is a kitchen or a fridge in the record, so a long stay need not eat out every night.

Facility lists in this catalogue are supplied by the property and are not checked by us. Anything that decides your booking — a lift, a cot, parking, a late arrival — is worth confirming directly before you pay.

What the property offers

The supplier record lists 27 facilities. Grouped, they read like this; the wording is the catalogue's, not ours.

For families: family rooms.

For cooking and eating in: coffee, kitchen, refrigerator, toaster.

For working and staying connected: free wifi, internet access, wifi.

Arriving and getting around: free car parking, parking.

Outdoors and wellness: garden, terrace.

Services: fireplace.

In the room: air conditioning, bath, hairdryer, non smoking rooms, shower, sofa bed, tv, towels.

Also listed: dvd, fishing, high chairs, horse back riding, lake, wc.

Who it suits

A kitchen on the record makes it a sensible base for a week or more, or for anyone who would rather shop at the market than eat out every night.

Family rooms or a cot are listed, so it is set up for children rather than merely tolerating them.

Parking is on the record, which matters here: the centre is a paid-parking zone and most apartments in the old quarters have none.

A garden or a balcony is listed, worth having in the hot Banat summer.

About Recaș, in brief

Recaș is not Timișoara. It is a wine village in Timiș county, 25 kilometres east of the city, and almost every bed here exists for wine tourism. If you are coming to Timișoara for its squares, its cafés, its theatres or its nightlife, you do not want to sleep in Recaș. The round trip is an hour by car, much longer by bus, and there is no evening life in the village itself. The people who should stay here are the ones who have come for the wine, or who want to be close to the vineyards for a day or two and are willing to trade the city for the countryside.

Recaș is 25 kilometres east of Timișoara. By car, on the DN6 or the A1, it takes about 30 minutes outside rush hour. In rush hour, which in Timișoara means roughly 7.30–9.00 and 16.30–18.30 on weekdays, it can take 45 minutes or more, especially if you are coming from the city centre. The road is busy with trucks and, in harvest, with agricultural vehicles. If you are driving, this is the easiest option by far, and it is the only option that gives you any flexibility once you are here.

The full guide to the quarter, with what it costs and what is against it, is on the Recaș page.

Things to know, from the quarter guide:

01 Book months ahead for harvest, late August to early October, and confirm the booking in writing; some small cellars do not use online booking systems.
02 Ask whether the room has air conditioning and a private bathroom, because not all of them do, even at the median price.
03 Check the bus and train times before you commit to staying without a car; the last bus back to Timișoara leaves early in the evening.
04 Bring cash in lei, as many places do not accept cards and the village ATM is not always working.

Good to know before you book

Cobbles are the usual surprise in the centre: wheeled cases rattle and heels suffer. Most museums close on Monday. Terraces take cards; the markets and the bakeries prefer cash.

Coming in by tram is straightforward, but buy the ticket in the app or at the kiosk before you board — you cannot pay the driver.

Where our data comes from

This page is built from the booking catalogue, not from a visit. The name, the star rating, the address, the coordinates and the facility list are the supplier's own record for hotel 20308048; the distances are measured from those coordinates to Piața Unirii. Nobody pays to appear here and there is no commission ranking.

What we have written ourselves — the quarters, the guides, the things to do — is on the rest of the site, and it is written from the ground. This page is a catalogue entry, and says so.
